Anyone else as interested in this as me?

Intrigued, yes. Interested, only a little. If it didn't look so... plain/generic/not real, I might be more interested.

I'd rather buy a motorcycle but this is nice for people who don't feel comfortable riding.

My cousin ordered one a month or so back. We'll see how it is!

I am. That would be perfect for my 15 mile each way, city driving commute. I ride my MC now, as much as I can. But there are days when it is too hot or too cold. MC only gets about 35-40 mpg in town.

Why not just give it a 4th wheel? The 3 wheel setup looks too goofy for me to DD.
And $7k is a tad much for a car with one person capacity. Sure it gets great mileage but I'm screwed if I have to get my baby from childcare or get groceries or anything like that.

Dear Elio,
We'll save you a space in the "three wheeled and micro-car" museum with all the other failed three wheeled start ups.
Love, every three wheeled American company. Ever.
When they're finally done, it will get a 50 mpg, cost $13K, and be the target of many lawsuits. (if they get that far)

If you add a 4th wheel, that makes it a car which requires airbags, crash tests, and on and on. The only way to keep the price down and mpg up is to make it a 'bike'

Ahhh gotcha I figured there was SOMETHING that made it so.

It is a 2 seater - 1 in front of the other, with a bit of an access hatch/trunk at the back. Also will still be crash test rated it says, so hopefully it does good...

Do it!

Ok, you guys obviously don't know what your talking about... AT ALL. First, three wheels instead of four wheels equals less drag equals higher fuel economy. Hence the 84mpg rating. Also, its a TWO seater, not a one seater. It has a back seat and a trunk, and the seat can fold flat for more cargo. Tekamu, poor assumptions made on your part. The Elio has three air bags and is engineered to pass crash tests with 5 stars. And they will be submitting their car for tests.

If it makes it to production I'll try to talk my wife to let me get one. I drive a metro now and its going down hill. I hope it lasts till theses come out. I can probably spare a $100 to get put in line. I'll take mine in black.

I will consider it for my commuter 'car'. If it ever makes production.
